Olympic Council of Asia Technical Delegates Meeting

BABGOC (Bali, April 14, 2008) - Bali and the Bali Asian Beach Games Organizing Committee team have recently completed holding the 2nd Olympic Council of Asia Technical delegates meeting.

Representatives of the OCA, Mr Wei Jizhong, Chairman, OCA Sports Committtee, Mr. Haider Farman, Manager, Asian Games, Ms. Isabel da Silva, OCA Womens Committee and Dr. Jegathesan, Chairman, OCA Medical Committee were in Bali from the 6th of April to the 10th of April with their sports technical delegates for a series of vital meetings concerning key decisions that needed discussion and finalizing concerning the Games.

The OCA and their delegates were welcomed by Mrs. Rita Subowo, the Director General of the Bali Asian Beach Games Organizing Committee who is”eagerly awaiting the birth of the first ever Asian Beach Games”.

During the joint OCA-Technical Delegates meeting, Mr. Wei Jizhong stated the importance of putting the athletes and their respective sports before the International and Asian sports federations.  He stressed co-operation from the federation representatives for the future of their sport in the Asian Beach Games.  Dr. Jegathesan requested that close attention be placed on the rules and regulations of the Anti-doping program and Mr. Haider Farman confirmed the Ayodya Resort Bali in Nusa Dua as the official headquarters for the Olympic Council of Asia and the National Olympic Committees. Furthermore, the conference included presentations of the developments made in each of the BABGOC directorates thus far.

The sites for each of the sports venues were inspected and all were approved.  Venue teams will be finalized by June 2008 for commencement of the construction of each venue.

The meeting and the crucial tour of venue sites and main accreditation centre went very smoothly with the Technical Delegates making special mention of the BABGOC team who demonstrated, in true form, Balinese hospitality by being very supportive, accommodating and pleased to assist at all times.
