The Rafting Day, 2nd BABGOC Picnic and Team Building

SANUR (05/12/08) - Activities commenced at 6am on the 10th of May 2008 when the BABGOC team gathered to meet up and have breakfast before being taken up to the rafting site of Puri Agung Rafting.  It was a little bit of a scramble to get everyone organised as many were quite excited about the day but it all came together and the bus departed for the journey at 830am.  Music and singing, a very popular activity with the BABGOC staff kept everyone amused during the hour long journey.

As rafting on river rapids is quite a dangerous sport, one and all were thoroughly briefed with the safety procedures and 54 people were soon organised with all the equipment needed to take part.

The groups, divided in to 11 rafts, were taken to the starting point of a 7 kilometer course and each team was given a team building task of ensuring the safe journey of 3 raw eggs as well as depositing 3 balloons into separate baskets along the course.

It was a rough and exhausting course with each of the inexperienced groups managing to dodge the rocks along the rapids successfully.  A jubilant I.B.Gd Ganaputra from the Ceremonies and Cultural Events Directorate steered his team, consisting of I Gusti Made Pastika from the Security Directorate, Dedi Sandiawan and Rinto Hari Tri Prasetiyo, both from Logistics and finally, Made Wawan Andika from the Venues Directorate, through the rough current to victory, securing the lives of their 3 eggs and balloons.

A sumptuous well-earned Balinese luncheon followed in an open air bale feeding the spirits of a fatigued BABGOC team that had a 100 meter climb after the rafting to get to their meal!

Mr. Antara, Manager of Operations gave an uplifting and refreshing speech which was followed by the announcement of the winner of the day’s team building games. First place being earned by Gana’s team.  Second place was won by the ladies in the Accreditation Directorate and coming in third place, the Sports Directorate team.  Salute to the winners!

The usual suspects from senior management were joined on this outing by Mr. Kang Darmawijaya, manager from the Marketing and Public Relations Directorate who promises to give his full support to the next BABGOC team day.

We would like to warmly thank Mr. Agung Kresnajaya, the Assistant Manager of marketing and public Relation in BABGOC along with the Puri Agung Rafting management for ensuring that the BABGOC personnel enjoyed this terrific day.
